Algos Behavioral Health Services, Inc. provides a range of services in the area of health psychology, but especially in the area of chronic pain.
  Chronic pain frequently has a major psychological impact on a patient’s life, and can contribute to so many losses: health, independence, mobility, functioning, career, quality of life, quality of relationships, financial stability, and many more. Stress and depression can follow, as well as a range of other emotional reactions. Comprehensive care for pain is considered most effective, attending to both the physical and psychological aspects.  These services complement the medical treatment provided by CPM physicians.

Monthly educational programs at the CPM clinic are being developed for patients to provide patients with information, knowledge and skills to more effectively manage chronic pain.

Relaxation Training Tapes and CD’s:

Relaxation Training is well-established psychological method of managing chronic pain, and assisting in the coping with intense, chronic pain.  Training in this area is available with one of our clinicians, as well as audio tapes and CD’s being developed for each of the following relaxation techniques.  Patients are encouraged to try different techniques and use the ones that work most effectively.  Tapes will be provide in male and female voices, and will be available later in Spanish. 

The six relaxation techniques include an individual tape on each one:

2.  Autogenic Training
3.  Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR)
4.  Guided Imagery and Visualization
5.  Mindfulness
6.  Affirmation Statements
